Introduction
This is the portfolio of Jonathan Reimer. The goal of this portfolio is to highlight Mr. Reimers personal and professional qualities, to show ways that he has taught and learned already, and to show how he plans to continue to learn and develop as a professional teacher.
This portfolio will point out some highlights from Jonathans 4 years of university, and 18 weeks of practicum experience. It will provide a detailed analysis of the qualities that he posesses and the different things that he has accomplished.
Personal and Professional Qualities
As a tall, confident, and intelectual individual who has always loved school and
learning, teaching has always seemed like a natural fit for me. I have always had a strong desire to want to help people and have put a lot of effort into becoming a person that is honourable and respectable. I am naturally gifted with the ability to
understand concepts quickly and explain them in an understandable way. I have always been a natural leader and I enjoy being in a position of leadership, though I also love working with people. I believe that the qualities that I have, the choices that I have made to lead a professional lifestyle, and the love that I have for education are all aspects that would make me a great teacher.
This section will give an outline of some of the personal and professional qualities that I have and that will help me to be a great teacher. This will start with my interest in teaching, followed by my familiarity with school policies and culture, and will finish with my current professional development.
Curriculum Teaching and Learning
I have a passion for learning. I love to see students beginning to understand concepts that they could not comprehend just moments ago. I am a firm believer that the goal of teachers is not just to get children through school, but to educate them with as much knowledge as we can so that they can be well equipped and prepared for their lives outside of school.
I want to show you different ways that I put effort into developing myself to be this kind of teacher. I do this through planning and designing learning, through teaching in new an innovative ways so I can reach all different types of students, and through assessments and evaluations of both myself and my students.
Professional Interactions
As a teacher, I have a lot of ideas about how I want my class to be run. I know what kind of teacher I am and I know how I handle misbehaviour in the classroom. I believe that the purpose behind every decision made is for the students learning and growth. I have a lot of ideas about how I want to run my classroom, how I want to interact with others as a professional and how I work with others. There are also many skills and qualities that I have that will make me a good teacher and a good collegue. I will share them with you.
